Launched in 2019, the first ‘rolling’ edition of Northern Waves of occasional work is centred around the West End of Morecambe, with the aim of sharing exciting, inclusive, diverse art and theatre that channels creators and audiences alike by celebrating community through its surroundings: the buildings, the streets, the promenade, the beaches and sea.
The idea of Northern Waves, like OEROL (pronounced ‘Oo-rol’) on the North Sea island of Terschelling in the Netherlands, is to showcase creators who make work that is accessible regardless of how bad the weather is — nothing in Northern Waves will get washed out!
